LONGi leads technological innovation with new Hi-MO 7 module

LONGi leads technological innovation with new Hi-MO 7 module
Oct 18, 2023

The Hi-MO 7 module attracted the attention of both the industry and global customers immediately upon its release, with LONGi subsequently promoting the product at high profile events around the world as part of the Hi-MO series.

Underlining LONGi’s long-standing commitment to technology innovation, Hi-MO 7 is based on high-efficiency HPDC cell technology. HPDC (High Performance and Hybrid Passivated Dual-Junction Cell) is an upgrade of HPC cell technology, whereby the cell adopts high and low junctions on the rear side with an optimized film layer design and deposition process, achieving an excellent passivation effect across the whole area to reduce the absorption of light, the introduction of a local low-resistance contact layer on the front side further improving cell efficiency. Overall, the upgraded HPDC cells offer enhanced conversion efficiency, power temperature coefficient and higher reliability, significantly increasing power generation, validation of which was the Hi-MO 7 winning the 2023 outdoor energy yield award at TÜV Rheinland’s ‘All Quality Matters’ congress.

As a world leading solar technology company, LONGi is also committed to promoting the standardization of product dimensions in the photovoltaic industry to facilitate its ongoing healthy development, joining a number of major module manufacturers in advocating a standardized module size of 2,382mm*1,134mm to maximize use of container space while increasing module power and reducing system costs. The Hi-MO 7 product adopting the new size can reach a maximum power of 610W, with its 72c version ensuring product quality and electrical

compatibility. The module’s new standard size has been achieved with only a small increase in wafer/cell length, thus having only a minor impact on manufacturing. Meanwhile, benefiting from relatively low internal current and low losses, it has a power generation performance 2W to 3W higher than that of its 66c version, as well as higher reliability in the junction box area and clear advantages in terms of cell efficiency and product quality.

A higher bifacial rate (~80%), better power temperature coefficient (-0.28%/°C), lower operating temperature, improved anti-light degradation (first-year attenuation no higher than 1%) and low-irradiance power generation performance combine to make Hi-MO 7 especially suitable for application in areas like the Gobi desert, where ground reflectivity and ambient temperature is high. Power generation gain here can be up to 3% compared to mainstream bifacial modules on the market. In addition to its high efficiency, Hi-MO 7 also offers leading product quality and long-term reliability, significantly reducing the cost of electricity for large-scale desert and other ground-based PV projects by increasing power generation over their entire life cycle.
